After School Regulation

The school day might be over, but regulation doesn’t stop there. These are the tools our occupational therapists reach for to support children after school — helping them move, decompress and regulate after the demands of the day.

Sensory tools that fit the school day

The school day asks a lot of a child's body. Long stretches of sitting, busy corridors, noisy halls, and very little room to move. The tools in this collection are here to make that day work better, not by asking children to sit still and cope, but by giving them what their bodies are already looking for.

You'll find balance and wedge cushions for flexible seating, chew tools and chew necklaces for oral input, ear defenders for noisy environments, and fidget resources that support focus rather than distract from it. Everything here is chosen by our occupational therapists and used in Irish homes and classrooms.

Finding what suits your child

There's no single right tool. A child who needs to move to think will get more from a balance cushion than a fidget; a child who chews sleeves and collars may need oral input more than anything else. If you're not sure where to start, our free resources and webinars walk through the eight sensory systems and how to spot what your child is looking for.

For teachers and schools

Many of these tools work just as well as a shared classroom resource. If you're building a sensory kit for a mainstream classroom or an SET room, our CPD courses and in-person workshops cover how to use them well.
