Does this sound like you?

This course is made for you if...

You can see that something just isn’t working for certain children in your class, but it’s not always clear what might be contributing to it or where to begin.

You've heard about regulation-first approaches and you're curious about what they actually mean and how they could work in a real, busy Irish classroom.

You’re tired of trying strategies that don’t seem to make a lasting difference and you want to look at your classroom environment and routines in a different way.

You want your EPV course to give you something you’ll actually use in September practical ideas and small changes that fit into your existing classroom.

What you'll learn

Inside the course

This course will help you understand what regulation really means in the context of a busy primary classroom. We'll look beneath behaviour and explore the sensory, emotional and environmental factors that shape how children experience the school day. Through a practical occupational therapy lens, you'll explore how classroom environments, routines, transitions and task demands can influence children's regulation, attention and participation. At the heart of the course is a regulation-first approach recognising that children need to feel safe, supported and regulated before they can fully access learning. You'll learn how small, thoughtful changes to classroom environments, routines and expectations can help more children feel ready to engage and participate. You'll also build confidence supporting children through moments of dysregulation using co-regulation and relational approaches that prioritise safety and connection, while keeping the wider class learning. Created by the Everyday OT team Kevin (Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist), Áine (Occupational Therapy Assistant) and Sinéad (Primary School Teacher), every strategy shared is grounded in the realities of busy Irish classrooms. Have questions? Reach us at hello@everydayotireland.com, we'd love to help.
Course outcomes

By the end of the course you will:

  • Understand how sensory processing and regulation influence children's ability to attend, engage and participate in learning and what this means for your everyday teaching.
  • Recognise the early signs of stress and dysregulation in the children you work with, and understand how classroom environments, task demands and routines can contribute to or reduce them.
  • Feel confident responding in the moment when a child is struggling using co-regulation and relational approaches that prioritise safety and connection.
  • Adapt your classroom environment and task design to reduce unnecessary sensory and cognitive load, with practicalchanges that fit within your existing space and resources.
  • Leave with a clear plan for the new school year. Small realistic changes you can embed into your everyday classroom practice from September.
